this fast paced society that we live in and especially here in Gauteng

supply is cut off it will die and to be more exact, 10% of the brain
capacity is lost every minute the brain is without oxygen. The American Heart Association has released astounding statistics in that Cardiac Arrest (Heart Attacks) are the single biggest killer in the USA to date and this is fast the growing trend in South Africa, predominantly due to our sedentary life stiles but it has already been recognized and is being tasked by the South African Resuscitation Council. Studies have further shown that the quicker circulation is restated in the human body after a cardiac arrest, the better the chances are for full recovery and this is where CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) can and will make the difference. The basic principles of First Aid are to Preserve Life, Prevent further injury and Promote recovery from injuries and or illness and thus are the reasons why the Department of Labour legislated it into The Occupational Health & Safety Act (Act 85 of 1993) that a certain amount of people needs to be trained in First Aid within any workplace.
