a little Tender Loving Care for our elderly...

We are a 24 year old welfare organisation providing a variety of different services to the needy elderly living in the Greater West Rand, including:

Service Centre and Independant Living units
Meals, Laundry and Cleaning provided
Social workers are provided, with a strong focus on abuse
Trained care givers to assist house bound senior citizens
Emergency food parcels - network with numerous other welfare organisations
Roodepoort Care of the Aged is constantly looking for funds to improve the quality of life for our Elderly and meet in their growing demands. Our vision to improve our Community Services is to renovate sections of our various villages in the West Rand. We also want to extend our Services in order to accommodate more Elderly Folk with affordable rentals and more meals.

Our Social Workers focus mainly on:
Sexual abuse: where there is a sexual act against the person's will - it can include suggestive words or actions. Many cases of sexual abuse is carried out by people very close to the older person and are rarely reported
Cultural abuse: can include preventing a person from speaking their own language or wearing traditional dress
Structural abuse: when people are prevented from exercising their rights to allow them a reasonable quality of life. It includes a lack of social security and fair pensions.
